Sonya Bruton is the Chief Executive Officer of the North Carolina Community Health Center Association (NCCHCA), the professional association for federally funded Doctor's offices in NC. In this position she strengthens, represents and develops the 96 medical practices serving underserved communities in this diverse southern state.
Sonya has been a group fitness leader for 20 years. She is a member of the group fitness and personal training staffs at the Cary Family YMCA and a certified Wellness Coach.
Sonya created the wellness coaching platforms, WakeUp Well and Rest Well for eClubSoda Inc. Each morning and Sunday evening, she facilitates these telephone based Wellness discussions for eClubSoda members on health, fitness, nutrition, self-esteem, goal setting and other wellness and life topics.
Sonya provides fitness workshops, health education and wellness lectures at healthcare conferences throughout the country. She teaches Body Sculpting and Cycling; however, her signature class is a dance-for-fitness based class called Cardio Funk.
She is nationally certified in Group Exercise, Personal Training and Wellness Coaching through the Aerobics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA), the American Council on Exercise (ACE) and Wellcoaches Corporation, in partnership with the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM).
Sonya has an undergraduate degree in Journalism with a concentration in News Editorial Journalism from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a Master of Public Administration degree with a concentration in Non profit and Association management from North Carolina State University.
